Goldwork Embroidery with
Lizzy Pye (nee Lansbury)
31st - September 2nd 2018
inspired by Jenny Adin-Christie to embark on a life changing
apprenticeship with The Royal School of Needlework. The project for
this weekend will be a tulip-inspired floral design using striking
goldwork techniques on a natural linen ground. Traditional silk
shading enhances the tulip flower, surrounded by shimmering golden
leaves. The techniques include silk shading, felt padding, couching
(where gold-wrapped threads are stitched onto the fabric), chipping
(a beautiful glittering surface stitched in a similar way to beads)
and pearl purl (a lovely thread with the appearance of a string of
pearls). A project pack, including all the specialist materials
required, is included in the cost of this weekend.
